you know, everyone says how great FF7 was, but i feel that FF4 and 6 were lightyears greater than 7 in terms of story. most of the FF games stand in the top spot for greatest story....I don't think it's fair to any of them to try and pick a favourite.

that was actually a little more harsh than what i was thinking. FF7 was a pioneer for the 3-D RPG world, but it wasn't as great as everyone made it out to be. I enjoyed it, but no where near as much as FF8, and I've never enjoyed playing anything like i did ff4

FF4 was way to linear compared to FF7, FF6 had that one bug where you could one shot almost everything. Its peoples opinions on what they think but nothing can change how FF7 made the company after the release of the now called PSX.

I would have to disagree with you on the whole linear opinion on 4 and how 7 made Square Enix what it is today. and as for 9.....to those who haven't played it and are thinking of playing it...don't waste your time. as einlazier said, the animation was horribly childish, everything was meant to be cutsie and it SUCKED!

FF7 is my favourite because I loved the story and it was the first FF I played. I'll never get tired of it. No other FF has moved me as emotionally as that one, and that's why I love it so much. Seriously, don't talk shit.

I mean 4 is linear based of how you get a pre-set characters versus 7 you pretty much can pick and chose who you want, and the combat system for 7 was another step in the right direction. If you read the stradegy guide for any Final Fantasy, I don`t know about the legends ones but you`d notice for 4 unlike the others it was able to safely say this guy and that guy had to be this level at this point.

I have to disagree with you there. Final Fantasy IX was the perfact FF to relive the days of 8-bit, and acual FANTASY rather than modern day buildings and real life scenarios. It brought the classics and everything that should be loved about FF back. Sure the story was cliche, but the music and characters made up for it. I think FFIX is one of the most underrated games. And as for FFVII? It's WAY too overhyped for my tastes.
